Company Information
MicroFinish is an automotive and industrial paint company based out of Harahan, LA. Microfinish contacted WebNola in late 2007 with a redesign project for their corporate website which had become a bit dated over the years. I met with the business owner to learn that the site should have a grey/white/red color scheme, and convey the look of a “powerful corporate identity”.
Challenges & Solutions
The biggest challenge I faced with this project was trying to get an idea of what the owner meant by the term “powerful corporate identity”. There are many different types of corporate sites, from simple business card sites, to sites like Microsoft.com, to corporate storefronts with full shopping carts. To me, a powerful corporate identity could be quantified by an extra-clean layout, flawless functionality, a pleasant aesthetic appeal, and (more often than not) the lack of obtrusive objects like animations. This caused the MicroFinish project to require a lot of back and forth between myself and the client. After a few proofs, the client was happy with the final proof which featured a white background with semi-transparent logos, clean layout, big, candy-coated navbar with web 2.0 text effects, and a mini-portfolio at the bottom of the site featuring the company’s various websites.
Overview and Conclusion
Although the Microfinish site required a lot of back-and-forth between the client and designer, the end product is a real treat for the viewer. The client was satisfied with the powerful corporate design, and the final proof was given to the MicroFinish staff for completion.
